Contest Results: Favorite Scenes
We are excited to post the results of our very first Twitter contest! The @LOTR account gave away two posters on April 4, 2010, as part of a promotional effort for the upcoming release of the Lord of the Rings trilogy to Blu-ray. We are super excited about the Blu-ray discs (seriously, they look amazing, even if they are only the theatrical editions) and even more excited about the idea of doing more contests in the future.
But for now, let’s celebrate with our winners!
The first winner is @grerce, who gave the following response when asked what her favorite scene was in the movies:
I actually really love the scene depicted in the poster. But my other favorite is probably the when Aragorn says “for Frodo.” and then everyone runs into the enemy. I love that scene.
The second winner is @emmerchem, who also had a great response when asked what her favorite scene was in the movies:
My favorite scene from the Lord of the Rings films is in the Return of the King when Pippin lights the beacon of Gondor and the they show the progression of beacons being lit from Gondor all the way to Rohan. Everything about this scene is perfect, from the sneaky way in which Pippin manages to light the beacon to the gorgeous cinematography of the various beacons to Aragorn and Theoden’s reaction to discovering the lit beacons. The music that plays during the scene is one of the best segments of the score because it creates the feeling of urgency and excitement, and you just feel the anticipation and importance of the moment. It seems like a small scene but it has so much significance to the plot, the fact that Rohan WILL come to Gondor’s aid, and I think it’s one of the most well done film sequences I’ve ever seen.
